Duchess von Detzingen is the most wonderful 4 year old German Shepherd. She was adopted from us previously but is now looking for a new home because she's just too interested in the kitty in her home.
Per her family: (they renamed her Buttercup)
Buttercup is fine with my 3 kids and 89-y.o. grandma. She does not like any dog toys but she loves treats of course. She has not chewed on anything ever except for rawhide bones. She is very respectful. She responds to "leave it" when it comes to food, as well as, sit, down, move, go, come... - and also wait (for filling her food dish). She does not dig outside, she is house trained and never had an accident. She has never shown signs of protecting her food either - which is good. She is a nibbler throughout the day. I generally fill her bowl twice per day and she grazes. I try not to have an empty bowl. She does not beg either. If she gets close or nosy I just tell her leave it and she goes and lays down away from me. Buttercup is a wonderful girl and perfect for a relaxed family. She is not big on being petted for long periods of time. Like many shepherds, she's not a lap dog or a big cuddler. She always does good at the groomer's according to Petco staff. I've taken her roughly every 8 weeks. She has never barked at or growled or shown any negative signs to other animals at Petco during grooming or training. She watches the house and yard of course for trespassers on the property and barks accordingly. She doesn't like cats.
